How mobile devices work?
Mobile devices are brought to school or are provided by the school and are loaded with appropriate educational applications that enhance learning. Applications are aligned with curriculum chosen by the teacher and/or student who has carefully planned their implementation with learner needs in mind.
The portability of mobile devices coupled with increasingly fast web and cellular connectivity enables students to be productive learners (Johnson, Adams, Cummins, Estrada, Freeman & Ludgate, 2013).

How do Applications work?
We're in the era of the mobile platform now, and the app is reigning as king (Norris & Soloway, 2011).
Applications are software programs for your mobile devices. They are downloaded for a fee or can be free from the internet. The applications used in mobile learning generally focus on brief interactions of perhaps five minutes or less (EDCAUSE, 2010). They can also be used in more carefully though out projects where they employ a variety of tools like social networking, calendars, customized calculators, simulations or augmented reality (EDUCASUE, 2010).
Careful consideration, of learner needs and learner outcomes, needs to be given into the types of apps a teacher or student will download.
